Post Doctoral in Computational Physics
The Department of Physics at the United Arab Emirates University, is seeking applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position in computational condensed matter physics. This position is supported by the “University Program for Advanced Research” (UPAR) – Research-Center. The postdoctoral work will be part of a project aiming at investigating suitable materials for adsorption of CO2 molecules. The calculations will be conducted using first-principle packages (such as VASP, SIESTA, Quantum Espresso, Abinit, ATK,..etc) where atomic relaxation effects are taken into account. The project fits into the scope of environmental applications of materials to make efficient gas detectors and filters with high sensitivity and selectivity towards green-house gases.
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in physics, materials science, chemistry or equivalent.
Previous experience as a postdoc in computational physics
The candidate must have excellent experience in computational physics and especially the electronic structure calculations using Density-Functional-Theory (DFT) codes. Super-cell calculations involving large systems of atoms and including atomic relaxations are essential for this project. Good knowledge in English, written and spoken is a requirement. The ability to write good research papers is a requirement.
