Public Health Research Assistant Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant on a one-year contract to work with Dr Tom Loney and colleagues in the Institute of Public Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University. Standard duties of the Post The research assistant will be involved in a variety of epidemiological studies focusing on the development and transition of the UAE health system. The research assistant will be expected to contribute to project coordination, piloting and refining data collection tools, recruitment, data collection, data management and the preparation of initial manuscripts and other outputs. In addition, the successful applicant will participate in teaching and administrative activities within the Institute of Public Health. Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable) Ideally the candidate will have: 1. Experience with working on health systems research in the UAE, region, or globally. 2. Experience with working on a range of epidemiological studies in the UAE, region or globally. 3. Evidence of being able to prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed scientific publications within the field. 4. Excellent computer and numerical ability. 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6. Ability to work independently and take initiative. 7. Demonstrated awareness of cultural, privacy and confidentiality issues. 8. Good interpersonal and team working skills and flexibility with working hours. 9. Experience of working within the World Health Organization Collaborating Centers network (desirable). Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Conduct a specified program of health systems research and other epidemiological studies under the supervision of Dr Tom Loney. 2. Support your Principal Investigator and research group in the design and development of the research program. 3. Support, if required, the development of proposals for research funding. 4. Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research in which you are engaged as directed by and with the support of and under the supervision of your Principal Investigator. 5. Engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the Institute of Public Health and College of Medicine and Health Sciences. 6. Engage in the mentorship and teaching of undergraduate and master students in the Institute of Public Health and College of Medicine and Health Sciences. 7. Carry out administrative and management work associated with your program of research and the Institute of Public Health. Minimum Qualification

Applicants should possess a Master degree in Public Health/Epidemiology or a closely related subject along with relevant experience in health systems or related research.
