The Mechanical Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a research assistant in the area of smart materials. The research assistant should be knowledgeable of shape memory alloys. The candidate should be able to synthesize, characterize and apply mechanical and material tests for shape memory alloys. The preferred candidate should have demonstrated experience in the both design and manufacturing of smart materials.

An appropriate educational degree supplemented with documented evidence to support the following: • Skilled in design and manufacturing • Ability to synthesize and characterize smart materials • Good technical writing skills • Flexible approach and initiative in executing the role.

• Material characterization • Skill in using CAD software, preferably CATIA • Demonstrable willingness to support work in the lab • Be adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands • Ability to conduct mechanical test related to materials properties
