Research Assistant - Free range poultry care
The successful candidate will work as technical research assistant in the ASPIRE Research Institute for Food Security in the Drylands. This institute features a comprehensive and highly interdisciplinary R&D program and provides an international collaboration platform for researchers and stakeholders of the public and private food and agricultural sector. It strives to generate knowledge and technological innovation in support of food security in the UAE and other arid environments of the world. As part of one of its research themes, the institute is aiming to collect, characterise and genetically improve poultry breeds native to the UAE. In support of this research, we seek to hire an agricultural research assistant with experience and interest in free-range poultry farming. The successful candidate is expected to support poultry research by taking care of the animals on a daily basis. This involves harvest of eggs, hatching, feeding, cleaning, monitoring, and provision of basic healthcare. The working place is the UAEU Research Farm in Al Foah. This position is for nine months with the option of extension on an annual basis.
High school degree with basic English communication skills.

Experience with poultry farming or agricultural work in general is much appreciated. Candidates should have an interest in working with farm animals, and a good understanding of animal welfare aspects. A UAE driving license and flexibility with respect to the working time are of great advantage.
