Research Assistant (Architectural engineering)
The Architectural Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a research assistant in the area of building science and materials. The research assistant will work closely with faculty members and researchers on projects related to sustainable building materials, energy-efficient design, and innovative construction techniques. The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong background in architecture with a focus on building science and materials. They should possess a solid understanding of sustainable building practices, energy performance analysis, and material selection criteria. Additionally, proficiency in relevant software tools and analytical methods, such as energy modeling software and structural analysis programs, is highly desirable. The research assistant should also have excellent organizational and communication skills, as they will be expected to assist in the coordination of research activities, including experimental setups and data management. Candidates with a master's degree in architecture and previous research experience in building science and materials, will be given preference. An appropriate educational degree supplemented with documented evidence to support the following: Education: A master's degree in architecture Knowledge and Skills: The candidate should have a strong knowledge base in building science, sustainable design principles, and material properties. Familiarity with energy-efficient design strategies, building codes and standards, and construction practices is necessary. Proficiency in relevant software tools and analytical methods, such as energy modeling software, structural analysis programs, or material testing equipment, is highly desirable. Research Experience: Prior experience in conducting research related to building science and materials is preferred. This includes experience in literature review, data collection and analysis, and experimental investigations. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
Laboratory Skills: Proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to building materials research, such as material testing, sample preparation, and analysis methods, would be beneficial. Experience with specialized equipment and instruments used in the characterization of building materials is an added advantage.
