Research Associate
The Department of Chemical & Petroleum Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University seeks a postdoctoral candidate to work on adsorption-related research and development project. The project aims to prepare low-cost anion adsorbent from biomass for the removal of sulphate ions from industrial wastewater and brine. The position is responsible for synthesizing and characterization of adsorbent material; performing sulphate adsorption studies, and designing a pilot plant scale system. The applicant must have knowledge in designing and fabrication of systems such as packed bed reactors and fluidized bed reactors. Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics is preferred. The applicant must be fluent in English, writing scientific reports and journal articles. The applicant will work in the laboratory environment with chemical engineering analytical equipment as well as data collection, analysis, interpretation, documentation, report of the results of the experiments obtained, and patent filing. PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Previous experience with adsorbents from biomass for the removal of ions from industrial wastewater and brine will be highly preferred.
