Job Description

Establish and coordinate an office for manuscript editing for UAEU faculty and graduate students in partnership with external contractors and the University College faculty. Task and responsibilities: Coordinate requests from faculty and graduate students for manuscript editing and review for publication in peer-reviewed journals Liaison with external contractors (e.g. KnowledgeE) to contract out the editing of manuscripts from across the university. Monitor the turn-around times and quality of editing services provided by external contractors; Report to the Dean of Libraries on the performance and impact of submissions to peer-reviewed journals. Coordinate the ‘volunteer’ editors provided by the University College (faculty on time release) and schedule timing of editing by in-house UAEU faculty to coincide with the Spring Semester reduced teaching loads. Keep records of hours of editing and review work done by ‘volunteers’ for payment for out-of-hours additional work. Develop guidelines for editing and reviewing of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Provide regular training and background education sessions for faculty and graduate students on the most effective methods for submission and publication in relevant peer-reviewed journals.

Minimum Qualification

B.A degree and publishing record.

Preferred Qualification

Master Degree

Expected Skills

Skills: Proven ability to write for publication in peer-reviewed journals Fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English Ability to work as a member of a team. Experience Editing in English and in Arabic is an asset At least 2 years’ experience editing or writing for publication.
