Job Description

The Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position in Philosophy (assistant/associate professor). AOS and AOC are open, but the successful candidate will be expected to teach General Education courses in applied ethics and/or critical thinking as well contributing to minors in Cognitive Science and/or Citizenship. We are seeking an energetic researcher, well-published in high-ranking international journals, and with well-established international research networks. The successful candidate is expected to have a well-developed research plan, with the potential to attract competitive grant funding. The Department of Cognitive Sciences at UAEU is dynamic and diverse, with an excellent track record in research. We seek a collegial and talented colleague in the discipline of philosophy. The UAEU is located in Al Ain city (Emirate of Abu Dhabi), on the border with Oman and about 1.5 hours’ drive from both Dubai and Abu Dhabi cities. The UAEU offers an attractive tax-free salary, free housing, medical insurance, and annual return airfares to the country of origin for expatriate employees and their immediate families. There is also a modest relocation allowance as well as other benefits, including an education subsidy for children. Minimum Qualification

Earned doctorate in philosophy.

Preferred Qualification

Ability to offer courses in applied ethics and/or critical thinking as well contributing to minors in Cognitive Science and/or Citizenship.

Expected Skills

The language of instruction at UAEU is English, in which native or near-native fluency is required. Experience teaching in multicultural contexts, where many students are not native speakers of English may be an advantage.
