Research Assistant
• Process, clean, and analyze macro/microbiota-derived high-throughput sequencing data, such as 18S rRNA sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, meta-transcriptomics, and other -omics data. • Perform data analysis tasks such as quality control, read mapping, taxonomic assignment, functional profiling, and statistical analysis using various bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and algorithms. • Keep relevant databases, reference genomes, and annotations for macro/microbiota analysis up to date. • Create clear and meaningful microbiota data visualizations and reports, presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences. • Design experiments, develop research strategies, and interpret results in collaboration with researchers and other bioinformaticians. • Document analysis pipelines, code, and methodologies to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing among team members. • Experienced in wet lab work and handling experimental animals.
• Strong proficiency in bioinformatics tools and data analysis software. • Work experience with macro/ microbiota-related datasets, preferably in the context of human health or environmental microbiology. • Ability to work independently and in team, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines. • Publication records and experience in gut microbiota analysis would be advantageous.
A graduate degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Work experience with macro/ microbiota-related datasets, preferably in the context of human health or environmental microbiology. • Experience with computational approaches for taxonomic profiling, functional annotation, and statistical analysis of microbiota data. • Knowledge of next-generation sequencing technologies and associated data processing workflows. • Work experience in wet lab procedures and animal experiments.
