The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a research associate position starting October 2023 to work on a practical pilot project. The candidate will have to design, construct, and operate the pilot in a remote location for a period of not less than one year. This is an externally funded project with an undisclosed Government organization in the UAE. Suitable candidates should have a track record, significant contribution, and analytical experience in the construction and operation of such a pilot. Specific knowledge on water quality parameters is required.

Applicants must have a graduate degree (minimum Master of Science), preferably in environmental engineering, with a specific focus on chemical disinfection. Applicants should have more than 1 project experience operating a pilot. Successful candidates will highlight their experience with the design, construction, and operation of the pilot. Applicants need to have 5 positive responses to the following list to qualify for the position: 1. Do you have a graduate degree (MSc Minimum)? 2. Do you have experience in designing a pilot experimental setup? 3. Do you have experience in the construction of a pilot setup? 4. Do you have experience in the operation of a pilot setup? 5. Do you have at least one publication involving the operation of a pilot setup? 6. Have you worked in a laboratory dealing with water quality? 7. Were you involved in reactor design and developing experimental protocols?

Applicants preferably would have a Ph.D. degree with a specific focus on disinfection and water quality. Coastal applications are a bonus. Applicants should have at least 3 publications in the specific area of disinfection involving a pilot setup. Successful candidates will have significant laboratory experience and modeling background.
