Research Assistant (Allocation of SUDS)
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a research assistant starting January 2024 to work on a research project in the area of sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS). Suitable candidates should have a track record and significant contribution and co-authorship to Scopus indexed publications on the topics of: • The design, allocation, and performance of sustainable urban draining systems. • Hydrologic modeling, and • Extraction and analysis of remote sensing data for estimating precipitation and soil type/moisture, • Specific knowledge on water quality parameters is required.
Applicants must have a graduate degree (minimum Master of Science), preferably in water resources or environmental engineering, with a specific focus on sustainable urban drainage systems. Applicants need to have 4 positive responses to the following list to qualify for the position: 1. Do you have a graduate degree (MSc Minimum)? 2. Do you have experience in designing sustainable urban drainage systems? 3. Do you have experience in hydrological modeling? 4. Do you have experience in stormwater quality assessment? 5. Do you have experience in using earth observation data in hydrological modeling? 6. Do you have at least one publication involving the performance of urban drainage systems?
The ideal candidate should be highly-motivated and submit documented evidence to support (1) Proven record of research on water resources analysis; (2) Good technical writing skills; (3) Flexibility and self-dependence in executing the assigned research roles.
