Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Description

The Department of Biology at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will be offered a two year position. The candidate will be involved in the project investigating hyper-arid Soil-Plant-Microbial interactions loop using metabarcoding/metagenomics approaches. Goal of the project is to assess impact of ongoing climate change on these tripartite interactions. Evaluation for the position be based on education, experience as well as motivation in terms of the qualification requirements mentioned in the advertisement.

Minimum Qualification

PhD in biology, ecology, microbiology, bioinformatics with relevant background

Preferred Qualification

Candidate with experience in eDNA analyses, NGS library preparation and bioinformatic as well as statistical analyses (using R) of big genomic datasets (metabarcoding/metagenomics) is highly preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and ability to work well in a collaborative environment with skills in networking are highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities Conduct fieldwork (soil and root collection) in an arid environment Process samples for biochemical and molecular lab work Bioinformatic and statistical analyses of datasets and timely manuscript publication Assist in supervising/mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
