Assistant Professor
Professor/Associate/Assistant Professor in Political Science The Department of Government and Society at the UAE University (UAEU) invites applications for a faculty position in the broader fields of Political Science at the rank of Full Professor, Associate or Assistant, professor. The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in any area of political science (e.g., Public Administration, Public Policy, Comparative Politics, and International Relations), a strong and continuous record of research published in peer-reviewed journals, a high h-index and citation index in Scopus and Google Scholar, and fluency in Arabic and English. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise master's theses, contribute effectively to the development of the department, and serve the department, college, university, and the broader community.
-Applicants should upload: (1) CV, (2) cover letter, (3) concise statement of motivation of no more than 750 words that specifies research interests, plans, teaching philosophy, (4) two samples of written and/or published work in Arabic and two other samples of research written in English, (5) names of two academic references and indicate whether they may be contacted during the application process or only after an offer has been accepted. - Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed. However, the appointment is a multi-level process and the candidate needs to pass all levels successfully.
1- Ph.D. in any sub-field of political science from an accredited and reputable university granted through a full-time doctoral study and residency. 2- Strong and continuous record of publishing research in Scopu-indexed journals; Strong citation index in Scopus and Google Scholar; High h-index in Scopus. 3- Experience in teaching a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in political science; Experience or willingness to supervise graduate students’ research and theses. 4- Strong theoretical knowledge and applied skills in teaching and research in the field; Excellent command of writing, reading, and speaking English languages. 5- Collegiality and team playing. - Ph.D. in Political Science or any of its fields. - Extensive teaching and research in the field. - Record of successful research grants. - High citation index and h-index in Scopus. - Expertise in program development, curriculum design and development, and high-quality service record on department, college, university, and community.
The merit-based position requires an active researcher with an excellent teaching record. There is considerable flexibility in the organization of duties and faculty workload planning is undertaken as part of ongoing staff review with the Department Chair in order to ensure appropriate time and opportunity to undertake all duties as well as for professional development.
