Research Assistant
A research assistant position has become available under Dr Robert Barigye, Associate Professor of Veterinary Pathology at the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Falaj Hazza Facility, United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain, UAE. The major responsibilities for this position include performing field and laboratory studies under research project that is following a “one health” approach to investigate the risk factors and animal and public health implications of the bacterial pathogen Coxiella burnetti within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be involved in collection of bovine samples from several dairy cattle farms and later test them in the laboratory using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and indirect ELISA techniques. The research assistant will also be involved in administering questionnaires, data analysis, and drafting scientific manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed media.
BVM, MSc
While not mandatory, candidates with a PhD in veterinary medicine or molecular biological sciences will be highly regarded
The preferred candidate should have at least 5 years of continuous working experience in a biomedical laboratory where PCR ad ELISA are routinely used in the testing of biological specimens. Candidates with a strong background in data analysis and good writing skills will be favorably considered.
