Head, National Medical Library Section
Lead the National Medical Library for the UAEU College of Medicine & Health Sciences as part of the UAEU Libraries network. To manage the NML’s daily work flow, staffing, negotiations with suppliers, relationships with other institutions, provision of information services to health professionals in the UAE. Developing and implementing a faculty-wide plan for the acquisition & development of curricular resources, educational facilities, faculty development & training, and development and coordination of extended learning experiences in the curriculum, direction and support for distance education and independent study materials in the medical and health sciences. To participate as a member of the UAEU Libraries Management team to increase the use and value of the University Libraries. Ex officio member of the College of Medicine & Health Sciences College Council and ex officio member of the CMHS Library & Learning Resources Committee. Maintain regular communication with the Assistant Dean for Medical Education and other faculty members as to the programs and resources required foe the work of the College of M&HS. Report to the UAEU Director of Libraries on achievements supporting the UAEU’s strategic agenda. Supervise and lead the staff of the National Medical Library Initiate and develop relationships leading to potential partnerships with industry, government and the community to support the UAEU Libraries strategic agenda with particular emphasis on the relationships which benefit the College of Medicine & Health Sciences.
A master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an accredited institution is required. A background or specialization in health sciences librarianship is highly beneficial
A master's degree or higher in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or a related field. Highly desirable additional qualifications in medical librarianship, health informatics, or a relevant healthcare field.
At least 6 years’ recent experience working with libraries, or museums, galleries, including at least 3 years’ experience working at a leadership level. Experience developing strategic programming in support of organisational goals. Demonstrated experience at managing diverse public service staff across extended hours rosters and services to the public. Desirable: experience with managing events and performances for public programming.
