Research Associate (Aircraft Design, Optimization and Control)

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to contribute to our pioneering project focused on optimizing Fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with a Blended Wing Body (BWB) design. This innovative project addresses challenges in lateral and longitudinal stability, limited control surfaces, and the impact of factors like freeplay. As part of our team, you will utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to validate aerodynamic properties, develop control solutions, and establish a high-fidelity simulation environment. The initial appointment is for 6 months, with potential for extension based on performance and admission into the UAEU PhD program.

Minimum Qualification

- Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. - Proficient in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB/Simulink, and C++. - Hands-on experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software tools. - Demonstrated expertise in aircraft design, analysis, and optimization. - Strong proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualification

- Knowledge in rapid-prototyping of hardware-in-the-loop systems. - Strong academic performance and evident research potential. - Practical experience with optimization techniques in machine learning. - Proficiency in utilizing AAA aircraft design software or equivalent tools. - For Postdoctoral positions, a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. - For Ph.D. candidates: Must meet the admission criteria of the UAEU Ph.D. program. https://www.uaeu.ac.ae/en/admission/ph.d.and_professional_doctorate.shtml
