Job Description

The Department of Government and Society seeks to make an appointment to the position of Professor/Associate Professor in Applied Sociology. The position will be of interest to those with high Scopus index, research and long expertise in the area of Applied Sociology and data analysis, with special focus on Medical Sociology.

Minimum Qualification

1- Candidates should have a PhD in Sociology, with specialization in applied sociology and data analysis from a reputable university. 2- Candidates should have an excellent expertise in teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses. 3- Duties involve teaching, conducting research, advising students and serving on dissertation committees. All teaching is delivered in English. Therefore, native English is required.

Preferred Qualification

The successful candidate will make a full contribution to the academic life of the University through research, teaching and academic service. They are expected to have extensive teaching experience, together with a significant publication record, proven research experience and to have demonstrated academic leadership and an ability to lead and manage effectively. There is considerable flexibility in the organization of duties and faculty workload planning is undertaken as part of ongoing staff review with the Department Chair in order to ensure appropriate time and opportunity to undertake all duties as well as for professional development. The broad balance of duties for Professors (at all levels) includes Teaching, Supervision and Examining (40%), Research (40%) and to contribute to the overall development of the College and Departmental profile as a world-leading provider of education, training and research of the highest academic standard (20%).
