A postdoctoral fellow in heterogenous catalysis

Job Description

The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking to employ a qualified postdoctoral fellow in the area of heterogenous catalysis and thermochemical conversion of biomass for a fixed time period of two years. The ideal candidate is to have a strong and well-proven experience in: - Running catalytic reactions in a flow gas phase reactor , and thermo-chemical reactions (Pyrolysis, Oxidation and Gasification) - Strong background in catalytic reactions, biomass conversions and different types of thermal treatments. - Experienced in developing laboratories and designing laboratory experiments, formulating research goals and testable hypotheses identification of various organic and inorganic molecules in complex liquid and gas matrices. - Experience in operating different chromatographic techniques independently and interpreting the results (IC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-TCD, GC-FID, GC-BID, GC-MS) - Experience in operating material science characterization tools independently and interpreting the results (XPS, XRD, SEM, EDS, FTIR, BET, and TPR) - Experienced in performing simultaneously Lab research, computational simulation, and Kinetic-modelling - Experience in modeling surface reactions via DFT computations - Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English - Excellent recent record of publications in good impact Q1 journals (preferably 2020-2024)

Minimum Qualification

• A PhD degree in Chemical engineering or Chemistry in the field of heterogenous catalysis.

Preferred Qualification

- Running catalytic gas-phase reactions, and thermo-chemical reactions (Pyrolysis, Oxidation and Gasification) - Strong background in catalytic reactions ,biomass conversions and different types of thermal treatments.- Experienced in developing laboratories and designing laboratory experiments, formulating research goals and testable hypotheses- Applicant should have strong expertise in analytical chemistry for identification of various organic and inorganic molecules in complex liquid and gas matrices.- Experience in operating different chromatographic techniques independently and interpreting the results (IC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-TCD, GC-FID, GC-BID, GC-MS)- Experience in operating material science characterization tools independently and interpreting the results (XPS, XRD, SEM, EDS, FTIR, BET, and TPR)- The ability to perform periodic visual inspections, leak tests, plumping, fittings, software’s related issues and maintenance of different spectroscopic and chromatographic equipment’s is a plus.- Experienced in performing simultaneously Lab research, computational simulation, and Kinetic-modelling- Experience in modeling surface reactions- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English- Excellent recent record of publications in good impact Q1 journals (preferably 2020-2024)- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines and ability to function well in a fast paced research environment- Ability to build customized analytical equipment’s as
