Medical Research Specialist I

Job Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks a Medical Research Specialist to provide a high level of research support for various clinical and translational research projects. Tasks include: Designing, setting up, and conducting scientific procedures, Providing technical support to the department in the development and implementation of research, Maintaining various lab operations, incl. viral and tissue designing, real-time PCR, animal care, and analytical measurements, Performing data analysis, including statistical analysis, create graphic displays of data, be involved in interpretation and communication of main results, Maintain daily laboratory operations, analytical measurements, preparing laboratory solutions, reagents, cultures, and biological samples, Place purchasing and service orders and communicate with vendors and service providers, Help with preparing data for presentations, publications, and Other duties as assigned by the Department.

Expected skills Qualitative and quantitative research knowledge and experience Statistical knowledge and Experience Good interpersonal and communication skills Accuracy and attention to detail Strong organizational and administration skills Ability to work as part of a team while also using own initiative Knowledge of research methodology and conduct Time management and self-management skills Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology, also need to be comfortable working with potentially infectious and hazardous materials, obtain immunizations, and take precautions against the spread of communicable diseases.
