The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at College of Engineering, United Arab Emirates University Calls Application for Two Research Associates to work in the field of bio-based materials. The candidate will be supported by a research grant for four months and the selected candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Mohammad Jawaid. Roles and Responsibilities: o Extraction of Lignin using natural deep eutectic solvents from biomass o Characterisation of extracted Lignin from biomass o Application of modified lignin for adsorption o Testing extracted and modified lignin using advanced characterization techniques like Thermal, Structural, Morphological, NMR, UV Spectroscopy, Particle size Analysis (PSA), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) Analysis. Present and report research results at national and international conferences and publish scientific results in peer-reviewed Q1 journals

o The successful candidate should have at least a Master degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, Mechanical, and Chemical Engg or any related field o Candidates with experience in the production of lignocellulosic biomass into lignin and its modifications will be preferred o Experience in preparation of Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent (NADES) and use NADES for lignin extraction from Biomass

o Candidates with having good research background and academic record will be given preference.
