Senior AIT Technician

Job Description

The National Space Science and Technology center is working on developing satellites from the range of CubeSats up to 300 kg Microsatellites. We are seeking to expand our team to support an increased activity demand and growing projects. We are looking for an Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) Technician. This is a full-time role for a technician who can work to deliver our next range of nanosatellite projects. • Perform acceptance testing of subsystems before integration into spacecraft • Assemble and integrate spacecraft and ground support equipment by following defined processes & procedures • Assemble and integrate using engineering models and procedures - structural parts and assemblies, RF waveguides, antenna, electronic boxes, harnesses, coax cables, thermal blankets • Use of mechanical and electrical tools • Support testing of spacecraft including functional testing/electrical testing • Set up, adjust, and calibrate standard test equipment to conduct functional and environmental testing using test procedures • Perform spacecraft lifting and handling operations • Perform spacecraft testing of communications, telemetry and command, thermal, power, and propulsion subsystems per the applicable procedure • Preform vibration test, Thermal Vacuum test, and EMC testing • Operate the test equipment and related auxiliaries • Operate spacecraft test consoles • Analyze and interpret electrical/RF test data and provide results and issues to engineering • Collaborate with AIT engineers to develop and document activities • Identify non-conformances during AIT campaigns and perform initial troubleshooting. • Provide feedback on AIT processes & procedures in order to understand lessons learned for future projects • Maintain tidiness and safe working practices in the AIT clean room • Maintain paperwork - work instructions, connector mate logs, test logs • To work in day/night shifts and during weekends to supports the tests

Minimum Qualification

Diploma in engineering or similar field.

Preferred Qualification

• Ability to work both alone and in teams as required by the individual task • Ability to work within defined timescales to meet programme milestones • Ability to interpret technical drawings, test plans, and work to procedures • Ability to perform spacecraft integration tasks in clean room environment • Ability to operate cranes, man lifts, tugs & handling equipment • Familiar with windows style PC operating systems • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Willing and able to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as required • Willing and able to travel to support launch site efforts and off-site environmental testing • Climbing ladders, long durations of standing, grasping, sitting, pulling, and physical bending movements
