Postdoctoral Fellow
The Department of Cognitive Sciences at UAE University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead a quantitative research project using eye-tracking technology to study reading development in Arabic-English bilinguals. This project is part of the Reading for Pleasure initiative, a collaboration between the Emirates Literature Foundation and the UAE Ministry of Education, aimed at enhancing literacy among over 250,000 Emirati students by encouraging reading in both Arabic and English. Key responsibilities include designing and conducting studies on reading development, collecting and analysing eye-tracking data, and examining cognitive and linguistic factors that influence reading proficiency. The fellow will integrate findings to develop interventions, prepare research for publication, and collaborate with both UAEU teams and the broader academic community. This role will contribute to advancing research on bilingual reading and cognitive neuroscience.
• Holding a PhD, or equivalent experience in Cognitive Science, Psycholinguistics, Neuroscience, or a related field. • Ability to present research findings clearly, with an interest or experience in preparing research findings for publication. • Interest and experience with quantitative research methods and eye-tracking technology in studying cognitive processes during reading. • Familiarity with statistical analysis using R and Excel, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and develop theoretical models. • Demonstrable interest in applying research findings to real-world educational contexts, particularly in bilingual literacy and reading interventions.
As above
• At least 2-3 years in a relevant research setting, including PhD studies. • Practical experience with eye-tracking and statistical analysis software. • Experience in applying research to educational settings, particularly bilingual contexts. • Effective communication skills for collaboration and presenting research findings.
Include a cover letter explaining your relevant experience, research interests, and alignment with the role, with emphasis on eye-tracking technology
