Instrumentation Specialist I
Monitoring the technical definition of the S-813 Payload on-board & on-ground data management, from selection of the S-813 Spacecraft Supplier and Payload subcontractor through the design and development phase up to the launch, in-orbit commissioning, in-orbit calibration and in-orbit operations of the Spacecraft. This job description includes but is not limited to the following key Responsibilities: Monitor the technical definition of the S-813 Payload on-board data management through all project phases (selection of Spacecraft Supplier and Payload Subcontractor, design phase, development phase, launch phase, in-orbit commissioning, in-orbit calibration, in-orbit operations), with specific attention to on-board raw image formation (detection, compression, formatting) and image data download and processing. Provide technical support to S-813 Payload Lead, Spacecraft Lead and Ops/GS Lead in all aspects of the program related to on-board Payload data management and image formation. Support the Payload Lead and Spacecraft Lead in managing the technical relationship with S-813 Spacecraft Supplier (and Payload Subcontractor) on a daily basis. Ensure technical interaction with the other members of the NSSTC S-813 Spacecraft team (Electrical engineer, mechanical/thermal engineer, Flight software engineer, AIT engineer) Specific responsibilities during S-813 program development (from Supplier selection to in-orbit commissioning): Review all Supplier deliverable documentation related to S-813 Payload on-board data management, Image Ground Segment & In-Orbit Calibration Support all Program Reviews involving Payload data management aspects and contribute to the washing-up of related Review Items Discrepancies and Action Items and to the follow-up of related minutes of meetings. Prepare and attend any dedicated meetings in relation with Payload data management and image formation. Participation to selected payload data management and image formation tests, and overall. Payload, Spacecraft and System tests (as agreed with Supplier). Participate to the S-813 in-orbit commissioning phase, including specific support to calibration campaign. Provide support to NSSTC Payload Lead and Spacecraft Lead for Acceptance of tests reports, pending actions, and tracking items status in relation with payload data management. Provide technical support to NSSTC Ops/Ground Segment team during the S-813 System inorbit operations after the system in-orbit Calibration & Acceptance and the transition from Supplier-lead operations to NSSTC-lead operations Technical skills on optical payload on-board data management, image processing & calibration and interface with payload image downlink chain and ground segment Ability to interact with internal and external resources Ability to issue technical recommendations to support Payload Lead, Spacecraft Lead and System Lead decisions
