A/V Support Specialist
Manage and support all type of AV related core servers and devices available within UAEU AV infrastructure and provide remote support wherever required. Provide a very proactive assistance to classroom technology and relevant infrastructure and ensure the stability and reliability of relevant systems operations. Present, develop and configure AV technology to UAEU community in a more user-friendly format instead of being more complex. Ensure multimedia servers, equipment is fully operational, being repaired or cleaned when necessary. Assist and instruct AV Support specialists, technicians, guests/customers regarding proper usage and operation of AV equipment, up-sell different AV services, and monitor equipment operation at appropriate intervals. Provide a high-level backend advanced technical consultation and support to Set- up, operate, manage, and troubleshoot all AV/projection/lighting/conferencing equipment, devices, and related system servers including classroom, IP TV, digital signage, presentations, and conferences technology. Develop manuals, tutorials, workbooks, or related materials for use in conjunction with production materials or for training. Responsible of possible changes/upgrades that would make the UAEU’s particular system more secure and/or convenient or enhance the performance and efficiency. Prompt response to system, equipment failure and provide effective repair, troubleshoot technology and community usability issues of on campus teaching and learning environments. Perform daily monitoring, periodic inspection and lead the preventive maintenance tasks of all responsible multimedia system’s hardware, software and associated resources. Assist with the coordination of AV support for enterprise events held at public facilities, which may include interaction with vendors and other facility support staff. Manage / monitor the operation of digital video cameras to record UAEU programs and events, video, and audio tape duplication. Assistance with maintaining a thorough inventory of A/V equipment and supplies, and monitoring the repair and replacement of non-working, damaged and/or obsolete equipment. Perform on site technical surveys to determine the technical requirements of the academic, administrative activities and for events. Document the findings of the site survey to include technical write ups, responses to technical RFP’s/RFQ’s and Results. Working with IT Systems Engineers and server teams to coordinate in the diagnosis and rectification of faults to ensure that all systems are fully functional, and that equipment and system down time are kept to a minimum. To ensure all work is performed according to the agreed standards and that quality techniques are practiced. Provide service updates and reports to senior management as required. Responsible to adhere with all information security policies and procedures of the University. Other duties as assigned.
Multimedia / AV technical relevant trainings. ITIL Foundation.
Strong technical experience & knowledge of all audio-visual systems: sound, lights control, recording, video conferencing, switching, broadcasting, audio mixers, control systems, IP TV, digital signage, AV automation, wiring, amplifiers, microphones, projection systems, smart boards, video cameras, and other A/V peripheral equipment. Expert skill in designing, installing, configuring, integrating, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting multimedia backend systems/collaboration technologies. Knowledge of Audio / Video industry standards policies and practices. Extensive experience of End-user computing infrastructure, including Windows and Macintosh operating systems. The candidate should possess a high energy level, which allows them to react to situations quickly and decisively, possessing self-confidence. A bachelor’s degree in IT related field, Communications, Multimedia, or any equivalent education or field experience.
