Assistant/ Associate Professor

Job Description

The Department of Surgery, College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), at the UAE University, invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in Orthopedic or General Surgery at an Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor rank. The candidate is expected to be involved in the following: 1. Teaching and assessing undergraduate medical students at different levels. 2. Coordination of clinical training of undergraduate medical students in the junior and senior surgical clerkships in the affiliated hospitals. 3. The candidate is expected to provide clinical service at a consultant level at the teaching hospitals affiliated with the university. 4. The successful candidate must have demonstrable capability to develop and sustain internally and/or externally funded research projects in his/her area of expertise and get involved in clinical and/or laboratory-based research with other CMHS faculty or with clinical colleagues in the affiliated teaching hospitals. International research collaboration is encouraged. The candidate is also expected to publish his/her research findings in high-impact journals. 5. Active participation in college educational and administrative functions, including various committees. 6. The candidate is expected to be actively engaged in promoting the growth of the UAE University

Minimum Qualification

 At least an MD or MBBS degree and certification of specialization and sub-specialization in their field by the American Board or equivalent from Europe, Australasia, or North America, with recognized advanced training in their respective subspecialty.  Applicants must demonstrate excellent experience in teaching, research, and clinical care, as evidenced by their past records in these fields.

Preferred Qualification

 At least an MD or MBBS degree and certification of specialization and sub-specialization in their field by the American Board or equivalent from Europe, Australasia, or North America, with recognized advanced training in their respective subspecialty.  Applicants must demonstrate excellent experience in teaching, research, and clinical care, as evidenced by their past records in these fields.

Expected Skills

Familiarity with international undergraduate and post-graduate medical exams such as USMLE and Canadian Qualifying Examinations. Knowledge of the operation/accreditation of graduate medical programs and certification/fellowship in North America, Australia, Europe, or the Arab Board is desirable. Applicants should also have a track record in teaching, including designing curricula, overseeing courses and supervising student projects, etc.
