Postdoctoral Fellow
The College of Information Technology (CIT) at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in Internet of Things (IoT) security. This role is part of a research project focused on developing an Intelligent Immune System at the Edge to enhance the security and resilience of IoT applications in 5G and beyond (5G-B) networks. This project is funded by UAEU and conducted in collaboration with the University of Sydney, Australia, and Khalifa University, UAE. The successful candidate will work at the forefront of IoT security research, contributing to innovative solutions that leverage AI, machine learning, and edge computing to detect and mitigate cyber threats in real time. This research project aims to develop and implement an intelligent immune system (IIS) at the edge to find IoT devices acting strangely, especially those connected to 5G and beyond (5G-B) networks. This work integrates artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and edge computing technologies to establish a proactive defense mechanism capable of detecting and mitigating abnormal device behavior emerging from cyber threats or other faults in real time. Due to resource constraints at IoT devices, a federated learning (FL) model is employed to enable IoT devices to collaborate to share learned ML models and update existing ML models. This research will contribute to global knowledge on intelligent edge computing, foster collaborations, and advance security paradigms. Successful candidate will work closely with the project’s PI and Co-PI to implement the research plan and supervise research assistants and possibly Ph.D. students. The appointed scholar will contribute to analyzing, writing, and publishing the research findings.
