Job Description

The NWEC is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our interdisciplinary research group as a post-doctoral research associate. The principal duties and responsibilities assigned to this position will include, but not limited to, conducting water resources research on spatiotemporal analysis to identify, measure, and monitor the effect of climate change on rainfall patterns and surface hydrology, with an emphasis on the use of AI/ML, GIS, and RS techniques. The candidate should assist the senior researcher in the ongoing projects and researches and write research proposals, scientific reports, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed journal articles. In addition, the candidate is expected to have a multidisciplinary attitude and pursue excellent scientific results at an international level.

Minimum Qualification

A PhD in Civil Engineering with a specialization in water resources and hydrological modeling is required, with a strong emphasis on expertise in AI, ML, RS and GIS. Applications from recent PhD graduates are also encouraged and will be considered.

Preferred Qualification

A PhD in water resources and hydrology, Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline, with high record of publications in high impact journals.

Expected Skills

• Strong interest and foundational knowledge in water resources management and hydrological modeling. • Proficient mathematical aptitude with the ability to analyze and solve complex problems. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration and reporting. • Hands-on experience in general laboratory practices and procedures. • Practical experience in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to relevant projects. • Demonstrated eagerness to acquire new skills and adapt to evolving job requirements through continuous learning. • Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment. • Strong commitment to upholding workplace safety standards and promoting a healthy work environment.
