Job Description

The department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering seeks applications for a research associate position in smart polymer nanocomposites. The position is primarily for 1 year but no promises of renewal. The candidate will directly work on an industrial project related to smart polymeric materials towards product development which are suitable for various applications. Candidate will be reporting data to university-industry partners on regular basis. Experience in independent research with innovative thinking ability (out of the box solutions) is required with evidence of prior publications.

Minimum Qualification

An appropriate educational degree supplemented with documented evidence to support the following: • Minimum qualification: MSc in polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering, or closely related degree with thesis on polymer nanocomposites or self-healing polymer nanocomposites. • Ability to process and characterize thermoplastic polymer nanocomposites with CNTs and graphene. • Evidence of technical writing in terms of published research papers. • Should be able to work with a large group of technical people, write technical reports, present results to partners (industry and university).

Preferred Qualification

• MSc Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering. • Experience of published results in self-healing, shape-memory polymer nanocomposites. • Experience of working with nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and graphene. • Demonstrable willingness to support work in the lab and adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands. • Commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace. • Good experience in professional presentations and technical report writing.

Special Instructions to Applicant
