Instructor of Psychology
The Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for an instructor position in Psychology. The Department of Cognitive Sciences at UAEU is dynamic and diverse, with excellent research facilities. We seek a collegial and talented colleague in the discipline of Psychology. The UAEU is located in Al Ain city (Emirate of Abu Dhabi), on the border with Oman and about 1.5 hours’ drive from the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The UAEU offers an attractive tax-free salary, free housing, medical insurance, and annual return airfares to the country of origin for expatriate employees and their immediate families. There is also a modest relocation allowance, as well as other benefits, including an education subsidy for children. A Master’s degree in Psychology or a closely related discipline (e.g., Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology) from a recognised/accredited institution. Demonstrated university-level teaching experience (preferably at the undergraduate level) in psychology or related behavioural sciences. Evidence of excellent teaching ability and commitment to student learning and success in a multicultural higher-education environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (the medium of instruction at UAEU). Familiarity with instructional technologies.
Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s AND a post-graduate degree in Psychology from an internationally reputable university.
The Instructor in Psychology is expected to deliver high-quality teaching in foundational undergraduate psychology courses. Responsibilities include developing and delivering course materials, assessments, and examinations aligned with best practices in higher education. The role involves academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate students, participation in curriculum review and course development, and continuous programme improvement. The instructor employ instructional technologies, including learning management systems and blended or hybrid teaching approaches. Additional duties include contributing to departmental, college, and university service, engaging in professional development, collaborating across disciplines, and supporting ethical, culturally responsive teaching while upholding university standards.
