Research Assistant
The Research Assistant will support advanced experimental research projects in psycholinguistics and cognitive sciences, focusing on eye tracking studies. Core duties include: • Designing, programming, and executing eye tracking experiments using Eye Experiment Builder. • Managing and analyzing eye movement data with Eye Link Data Viewer. • Conducting data processing, cleaning, and statistical analysis using advanced techniques, including mixed-effects modeling (lmer, brms) in R. • Assisting with participant recruitment, experimental setup, and day-to-day lab operations. • Preparing research documentation, reports, and assisting with academic dissemination (conference presentations, papers). • Translating/transcribing research materials between Arabic and English, if applicable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Linguistics, Computer Science, or related field. • Substantial prior experience in behavioral and eye tracking research, with hands-on expertise using Eye Experiment Builder and Eye Link Data Viewer.
Master’s degree in a relevant field. • Extensive experience in statistical analysis (especially linear/mixed effects and Bayesian modeling using lmer and brms in R). • Demonstrated record of research collaboration and data-driven experimental work. • Proficiency in academic writing and research documentation • Knowledge of Python programming, computational modeling, database development, and website creation will be considered an advantage.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and running eye tracking experiments, with hands-on experience using Eye Experiment Builder and Eye Link Data Viewer. • Advanced proficiency in statistical software, with a strong command of mixed-effects modeling (“lmer” and “brms” packages in R) for experimental data analysis. • Proficiency in Python programming and computational modeling techniques relevant to cognitive and psycholinguistic research. • Experience in database creation, management, and publication, as well as website hosting and development to support research dissemination and collaboration. • Experience with statistical methods (lmer, brms). • Previous collaborative research and software/data skills. • Language competencies, including level of Arabic proficiency if applicable.
