Assistant / Associate/Professor – Environmental Health Specialist
The Institute of Public Health (IPH) at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, is seeking to appoint a full-time faculty member to contribute to its teaching and research activities in Environmental Health. We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience and achievements in the field of Environmental Health. Applicants should have a track record in teaching environmental health at the undergraduate and graduate level, including designing curricula, overseeing courses and supervising student projects. Experience with teaching environment, health and safety or occupational health is an advantage. The successful candidate will contribute to programs of undergraduate and graduate teaching, including the MPH and PhD programs as well as professional training. The IPH has a thriving graduate teaching program and currently has 25 PhD students and 55 MPH students. Academic rank will be commensurate to qualifications. Furthermore, (s)he should be accomplished in conducting and supervising research projects. It is expected that (s)he will have published their research findings in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. A key requirement for the successful candidate will be their ability to serve as the principal investigator in research projects relevant to environmental health. Experience with laboratory work related to environmental health is strongly preferred. Particular skills in developing strong links with other educational establishments, health authorities, government agencies and other institutions in the UAE and the wider region will be considered an important qualification. Experience in international collaboration is preferred. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in the College of Medicine and other UAEU colleges in addition to local and regional institutions. The successful candidate will also share administrative work in the IPH and the College of Medicine including serving on committees, invigilating examinations and contributing to student assessments.
The Environmental Health Specialist must hold a doctoral degree in Environmental Health or a relevant scientific field from an accredited university. Applicants should have academic teaching and research experience in the field of environmental health.

Demonstrated awareness of cultural, privacy and confidentiality issues as well as good team working skills and flexibility with working hours is expected. Fluency in English is required. A working knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu/Hindi or other languages will be an advantage.
