Research Assistant (Embedded Systems)
We are seeking an embedded Systems Engineering to design and test Flight Software to support a university CubeSat mission over a one-year period. This role focuses on the design, implementation, integration, and test of flight software running on the spacecraft onboard computer, and close collaboration with subsystem teams and student developers. The engineer will help ensure flight software is robust, testable, well-documented, and ready for AIT and mission operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). • Experience with complex hardware development (spacecraft, avionics, embedded systems, robotics, or similar). • Working knowledge of requirements, interface control, verification, and test planning/execution. • Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills.
• CubeSat/SmallSat project experience (university or industry). • Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (EPS, ADCS, COMMS, OBC/CDH, payloads). • Experience mentoring students, leading small technical teams, or supporting educational labs. • Exposure to structured engineering processes (review gates, verification matrices, configuration management).
