Job Description

Position Description The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a highly motivated Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics within the Department of Genetics and Genomics. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group applying advanced computational methods to large-scale omics datasets, with emphasis on human genetics, population genomics, and translational applications. Key Responsibilities • Perform bioinformatics analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and multi-omics datasets. • Contribute to publications, reports, and grant-related activities. • Develop and optimize computational workflows and pipelines. • Conduct data preprocessing, quality control, statistical analysis, and visualization. • Work collaboratively with lab members and departmental faculty. • Ensure reproducible research practices, organized documentation, and version-controlled code.

Minimum Qualification

• Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD depending on experience level).

Expected Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to reports, publications, and presentations. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment. • Solid understanding of genomic data processing, statistical analysis, and data visualization. • Strong experience in analyzing NGS and omics datasets using standard bioinformatics tools and workflows. • Proficiency in Python, R, or Bash scripting. • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, HPC clusters, and reproducible computational research practices.
