The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at UAE University is seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to a funded research project in the area of Arabic AI storytelling, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning, and Generative AI. The successful candidate will work on the “Hakawati” project, which focuses on developing an interactive AI system for generating and narrating Arabic stories for children (ages 5–12). The role includes participation in research activities such as reading, analysis, and writing research papers. Additionally, the candidate will work on Arabic language data processing, training and evaluating deep learning models for story generation, and integrating multimodal components such as text-to-speech and image generation. The position may also involve parameter tuning, model calibration, and system testing.

1. BS or MS in Computer Science, or related fields 2. Strong background in Machine Learning, NLP, and AI 3. Proficiency in Python 4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment 5. Excellent communication and organizational skills
