Job Description

The Department of Geosciences in the College of Science (COS) at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites highly qualified individuals to apply for a faculty position in Structural Geology. The department seeks candidates who can contribute to its growing undergraduate and graduate programs in Geosciences through excellence in teaching and research. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at undergraduate and graduate levels, a demonstrable research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, publish his/her research findings in top refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of the UAE University.

Minimum Qualification

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Structural Geology and demonstrated record of research accomplishments in structural geology and related research fields, experience in securing research grants, effective and innovative teaching. Practical and industrial experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualification

Qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in Structural Geology, demonstrated record of research accomplishments in structural geology and application to geological problems. Experience in programing and application of digital analysis and artificial intelligence is recommended. Experience in writing and securing grants, and effective and innovative teaching is vital for the position. The candidate is expected to teach courses in structural geology and tectonics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with general geology and field geology courses and supervise postgraduate students. Practical and industrial experience is a plus. Faculty rank is commensurate with the qualifications and experience.
